Ride an e-bike up one of the most scenic mountains in Tennengau (south of Salzburg). Steady climbs, traditional alpine farming and wide views across the Salzburg mountains make Trattberg a tour you put a little effort into — and enjoy all the more for it.
Trattberg
We start at Michi's Radladen in Kuchl and ride together towards St. Koloman and on up to Trattberg. The gradient climbs steadily over longer stretches, and the landscape opens up a little more with every metre of elevation.
Along the way, I'll show you places and viewpoints where I like to stop myself. On clear days, the views stretch across Salzach Valley and Tennengebirge mountains towards Dachstein.
Higher up, the landscape changes noticeably. Forests give way to open alpine pastures, cows and horses are part of everyday summer life here, and the traditional mountain farms tell you a lot about life in this region.
Of course, we also take time to park the e-bikes, enjoy the views and stop for refreshments when the opportunity is right.
For me, that's the appeal of this tour: we're not simply riding up a mountain. Along the way, you get a glimpse of the landscape, life on the alpine pastures and the little places that make Trattberg special to me.
Starting point: Michi's Radladen, Moos 82, 5431 Kuchl, Austria
Who it's for
The Trattberg Panorama Tour is for anyone looking for a more challenging e-bike ride with a real mountain feel.
At around 40 km (25 mi) and 954 metres of elevation gain (3,130 ft), it's considerably more demanding than the Lake Bluntausee Scenic Tour. You should be confident on a bike, have a good basic level of fitness and feel comfortable being active for several hours.
The e-bike helps you on the long climbs. Even so, this remains a proper mountain experience.
